Dental Fillings

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are used to restore a tooth that has decayed. It can also be used to repair teeth that have been cracked or chipped. A dental filling helps restore the tooth’s original shape, size, and strength. The decayed portions of the tooth are removed during the procedure and then a filling material is used to repair it.

White resin fillings, also known as composite fillings, have become increasingly popular due to their natural appearance and aesthetic appeal. Made of a mixture of plastic and fine glass particles, white resin fillings can be color-matched to blend seamlessly with the natural color of the tooth, making them virtually indistinguishable from surrounding enamel. Unlike traditional silver amalgam fillings, which are more noticeable and may darken over time, these fillings provide a discreet and attractive solution for restoring decayed or damaged teeth. Additionally, these fillings bond directly to the tooth structure, preserving more of the natural tooth and requiring less removal of healthy tissue during placement. With their ability to restore both function and beauty to the smile, white resin fillings offer a reliable and aesthetically pleasing option for dental restoration.

Advantages of Dental Fillings

Improved tooth appearance: Dental fillings can be customized to blend in seamlessly and enhance your smile’s appearance.

Protection against further decay: Dental fillings help prevent decay and infections.

Quick: You can get your filling procedure done in only one dental appointment.

Dental Filling Procedure

When tooth fillings are needed, our dentist will first numb the tooth and surrounding area. Once this is done, the decayed part of the tooth will be removed. This part of the procedure is called dental “drilling.” After the tooth has been cleaned, the dentist will shape the tooth filling and then harden and polish it to restore the tooth’s shape and function.
